A freeman once said…

“Why should I walk around a slave

when there is plenty of space

for me to roam and live a free life

without being supervised

or directed in the manner

another man requires?

Why should I be under you

when I can paint my sky blue

in the way and manner I choose to

and fill it up with birds that coo?

I cant be your slave for no reason

I cant sell my freedom for no price

I am a free man

and choose to maintain my stand.

If your offers

are in exchange for my freedom

then you had better not offered.”

  1. one’s freedom should never be compromised. love or friendship should be offered without any condition at all. well done (as always), emmanuel! please keep on writing. =)

  2. a quote comes to mind:

โ€œWe’re our own dragons as well as our own heroes, and we have to rescue ourselves from ourselves.โ€
    Tom Robbins

I struggle with the awareness t hat often I am the one who actually made me a prisonor when I feel locked in my little mind box…but I am also the liberator. This poem brought all this up! wow!

    Thanks for sharing

  3. Why should anybody be a slave to others in any way shape or form? Everybody should be paid/rewarded for work they do; everyone should have the freedom to be free and appreciate the world around them. Love the voice in this poem – very strong indeed xx
