Tomorrow remained in her stomach
swollen like a pregnant goat
bulging per second
like the next bulge
will burst her skin
and spill the content.
She coordinated herself
like it wasn’t a burden she bore.
Shadows faded, darkness prevailed
she went into labor,
tomorrow is born
a healthy child.

hey emmanuel – thanks for visiting me at my new place…have you changed your blog as well or am i just a bit dizzy…?
A parable, a metaphor, and a beautiful way to express how to look at each day before us – creative undertaking here, well executed. A child’s smile, as a well-laid (and troubled over) plan effectively realized can bring such bliss.
Pregnancy – a woman- a day – love it! 🙂
Pregnant women are beautiful. 🙂
Excellent as a look at pregnancy and a look at each day
Em you always have the recipe on great writing
a burden that’s not too heavy to carry… love taking its physical form… i have always been a fan of yours. i love your creative take on the subject, from a man’s point of view at that. 🙂
if tomorrow could only always be born healthy…what a blessing…
i always loved being pregnant – such a wonder..and you described it well emmanuel
What a brilliant use of metaphor here. Elegant and provocative well written 🙂
This is GORGEOUS. I loved it.
You’ve written some really good poems since I’ve known you, but this one had me right at the picture. Great concept overall and “tomorrow is born a healthy child.” Wonderfully done.
smart metaphor, you rock!
🙂
