You can’t take the peasants
off the street
neither can the rich
stop eating meat.
But as long as both exist
the complement
should be compromised
well enough
for the peasant to dwell
the street comfortably
while the rich eat
their meat graciously.
I am glad I do not eat meat..smile having said that ,, I maybe reading this incorrectly but my take on this poem is that there is an invisible barrier between classes, and some of us are living in a dubious security, but take heed the day will come when there will be a leveling…among mankind….
I believe at least the poets can still dream and write at least of equal justice, personal liberty, and tolerance
Blessing for this 2013
