With green eyes
I looked at the man
carrying a bag of gold
on his back
and wished I was him.
With a burden
on his back
and sleepless nights
from guarding,
the man
carrying a bag of gold
wished he was me.

Things are never what they seem. My mom was right: be careful what you wish for! 😉
Very well said, Em! The grass always seems greener on the other side! (sigh)…
If wishes were horses, I think would be the best jockey in the world by now!! 🙂
another one of your Proverbs, haha I loved it, short but plenty of wisdom!

looking at what you would like isn’t always what you need
Thanks E
Timeless sentiment delivered with great rhythm and economy. Nicely done!
Oh how true this is! As a child I lived next door to a family who owned a bakery. Their daughter loved my mother’s home made baking. We desperately wished we were her so we could eat goodies from a bakery!
easy to look at the burdens another bears and think they have it better…until we walk a mile in their shoes…
ha the grass, that old grass lol. Nice OS, and quite funny 🙂
I’m one of those people who is actually happy with his life.
