Giving is receiving

He dipped his hands
into his pocket
not like he had so much
or nothing to do
with the little he had
but the sight
of the old Woman
at the street corner
jingling her bowl
for God knows how long
rang a bell in his heart
showing him
a million and one ways
to be grateful
as much as
giving him
a million and one reasons
to help brighten
her dark clouds.

  5. TRUE beauty, yesss. I’ve actually done this before myself on a street in Massachusetts. I was rather dismayed how the elderly homeless woman could be there…thought of my grandmother (at that time home awaiting me)….*sigh so very disheartening to see….
